A resource spearheaded by a prominent travel advocate, seeks to highlight and promote Black-owned businesses within the travel and tourism sector. This initiative is conceptually rooted in the historical “Green Book,” which provided safe travel guides for African Americans during segregation. The modern adaptation uses digital technology to connect travelers with businesses that support and celebrate Black culture.
The significance lies in addressing historical inequities and promoting economic empowerment within Black communities. By increasing visibility and accessibility to these businesses, the project fosters a more inclusive and equitable travel experience. It contributes to correcting the underrepresentation of Black-owned establishments in the mainstream travel industry, driving economic growth and cultural preservation.
